Compassionate Care Foundation Issued Permit to Dispense Medical Marijuana in Atlantic City
The Facility is Now the Ninth Dispensary to Operate
The New Jersey Department of Health today issued a permit allowing the Compassionate Care Foundation (CCF) to open a satellite dispensary in Atlantic City. This is the ninth facility dispensing marijuana for medical use in New Jersey.
According to CCF, the satellite dispensary will open on Saturday, February 22.
“The opening of this site marks the third dispensary available in the Southern region of the state,” said Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli. “This is another step forward in increasing access to medicinal marijuana for patients.”
There are now nine dispensaries operating in the state: Greenleaf Compassion Center of Montclair, Compassionate Care Foundation of Egg Harbor and Atlantic City, Garden State Dispensary of Woodbridge and Union Township, Breakwater Alternative Treatment Center of Cranbury, Curaleaf NJ, Inc. in Bellmawr, Harmony Dispensary in Secaucus and Rise in Paterson.
CCF has been operating its facility in Egg Harbor since 2013.
Participation in the program continues to grow. There are more than 69,560 patients, 2,619 caregivers and 1,110 physicians participating in the program.
The Murphy Administration made a series of program reforms that boosted participation including the addition of five new medical conditions (anxiety, migraines, two forms of chronic pain and Tourette Syndrome), allowing ATCs to post prices, adding mobile access to the patient registry, and allowing ATCs to open satellite dispensaries. In July 2019, the Governor signed a new law that increased monthly purchase limits, reduced doctors’ visits, added workplace protections for patients, expanded the use of caregivers, and allowed for new forms of medical cannabis to be sold, including edible forms like tinctures.
Patients and caregivers can visit the MMP’s website to change their designated ATC. The change can also be made by calling the Customer Service Unit of the MMP at 609-292-0424 and does not require changing ID cards.
